Domain
(Bereich), Bezeichnung für eine Gruppe von Computern im Internet. Domains werden benutzt, um Dokumente oder Dienste im Internet zu adressieren. Beispiel: In der Internetadresse http://www.bahn.de steht de für die Gruppe der Computer im deutschen Teil des Internet. bahn bezeichnet die Computer, die die Dienste (z. B. Fahrplanauskünfte) der Deutschen Bahn für Internetkunden abwickeln.
